It depends entirely on you! According to PADI, there is no maximum age for scuba diving. However, the maximum age for scuba diving may vary, depending on an individual country and some dive destinations, which you should check as the regulations may change from time to time.

The most important thing for people 45 years and older is that they should be in good Physical and Mental Health.

You will need to be in good health and have a reasonable fitness level to learn how to scuba dive regardless of age. A brief diver medical questionnaire will need to be filled out. A doctor’s approval will be required if you have any pre-existing medical conditions (some countries may require a doctor’s approval for all ages). The medical questionnaire asks those over 45 years old to answer questions regarding cholesterol levels, familial history of heart attack, and lifestyle habits.

Are you looking for healthy, low-impact Exercise?

Not a fan of the gym? Scuba Diving is a great way to maintain your fitness level. Diving is a low-impact exercise compared to walking or jogging.

Neutral buoyancy underwater reduces the weight on stiff joints, strengthens the diver’s muscles, and supports joints and spine structures while simultaneously releasing endogenous painkillers (endorphins), providing pain relief.

If you want to keep diving as you get older, then the key is maintaining your overall fitness level!

Meet new people, go places and discover a whole new world!

As you get older, meeting new people with shared interests isn’t easy.

Scuba divers generally are active, enjoy the outdoors, love to travel, and have a passion for the ocean. Joining the dive community, socializing, and being active will help you stay energized and youthful! You will meet people of all ages on vacations, dive trips, and locally.

You will experience amazing colorful coral reefs teeming with marine life, shipwrecks that few people have ever seen. These are just a few of the incredible experiences you will have whether you are new to scuba diving or have been diving for years!
